    3Degrees is working to create an onramp to Additive Manufacturing careers. By partnering with local Chicago businesses, 3Degrees is bringing opportunities to communities throughout Chicago. Through 8 weeks of training, mentorship, and funding, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of machine operation, build prep, post processing, software, and more.

    Chicago is home to a number of cutting-edge 3D Printing manufacturers. As part of this course, students will be given behind the scenes access to these sites and learn from industry experts the ins and outs of the advanced manufacturing space. Throughout the course students are able to see inside cutting edge 3D Printing facilities to learn more about the skills required to work in these environments. Tours are hosted by some of the world leaders in Additive Manufacturing technology including Renishaw, Impossible Objects, and mHub.

    Credentialed Content

    Background content to get students up to speed on the industry

    Each student will have the opportunity to access content from one of the leading knowledge centers in the 3D Printing industry – Society of Manufacturing Engineers – Tooling U. These courses (regularly) thousands of dollars will be provided at no cost to each student and will be facilitated in person by 3D Printing professionals so students have the ability to ask questions and have direct tutoring in the content. The successful completion of these modules will enable students to be credentialed within the Society of Manufacturing Engineers Certified Manufacturing Technologist (CMfgT) certification.

    Industry Mentoring + Work Placements

    Getting a start in the industry

    Each student will be paired with at least one career mentor from the 3D Printing industry. These mentors will span a variety of industries including aerospace, medical, automotive companies and will help the students start to build a lasting network within the industry. We actively work with each student to find career opportunities through internships and full time work placements.
