Background content to get students up to speed on the industryEach student will have the opportunity to access content from one of the leading knowledge centers in the 3D Printing industry – Society of Manufacturing Engineers – Tooling U. These courses (regularly) thousands of dollars will be provided at no cost to each student and will be facilitated in person by 3D Printing professionals so students have the ability to ask questions and have direct tutoring in the content. The successful completion of these modules will enable students to be credentialed within the Society of Manufacturing Engineers Certified Manufacturing Technologist (CMfgT) certification.
Industry Mentoring + Work Placements
Getting a start in the industry
Each student will be paired with at least one career mentor from the 3D Printing industry. These mentors will span a variety of industries including aerospace, medical, automotive companies and will help the students start to build a lasting network within the industry. We actively work with each student to find career opportunities through internships and full time work placements.
- Sign Up to be a AMx Career MentorWe are looking for volunteers to serve as mentors for upcoming AMx cohorts. Mentors meet with their students 1-2 times over the course to share their own experiences building a career in Additive Manufacturing. Mentors do not have to be local to Chicago although for 2022, it would be great if you are also attending the IMTS Trade Show in September as the students will be onsite.
